Medical Expert


1. Assessment of Patients (taking relevant history, performance of appropriate physical examination)

a) Demonstrate appropriate assessment and investigation of the following common endocrine disorders

      • Diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2)
      • Thyroid disorders (hyper/hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, thyroid nodules)

b) Demonstrate an understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical and laboratory findings of the following endocrine conditions

      • Adrenal disorders (hyper/hypoadrenalism)
      • Pheochromocytoma
      • Pituitary disorders (hyperprolactinemia, hypopituitarism)
      • Sodium/Water disorders (SIADH, diabetes insipidus)
      • Hyperparathyroidism
      • Osteoporosis

2. Investigation and management of patients with undifferentiated problems

a) Demonstrate an understanding of the following problems in endocrinology

      • Hyper/hypocalcemia
      • Hyper/hyponatremia
      • Hypoglycemia
      • Endocrine hypertension
      • Endocrine changes of pregnancy
      • Non-thyroidal illness (Euthyroid sick syndrome)
